One of the most outdated rooms of homes which still exists is the parlor or living room. Many homes are still built with a dining room, living room and family room. Homes should allow its occupants the flexibility to turn any room into the room they want it to be. Most of these rooms such as the dining, living, and family room do not have doors. Thus, if you wanted to turn your family room into a media room capable of darkening the room and not allowing sounds to enter or escape easily, it would be impossible if there were no doors on the family room. Similarly, most people do not need a living room and a family room. To turn the living room into a study or home business office would be inconvenient because of the layout of most homes and the nonexistent door.
